Good Things Foundation supported building digital skills training to identify scams
Over September and October, the Inclusive Design team conducted a series of training sessions for team members over the age of 50 years.
This important training is funded by The Good Things Foundation and offered as part of the Be Connected program. A program supported by Australia’s E-Safety Commission.
Over 37 team members participated in training focused on learning how to avoid common scams. We covered topics such as,
- Impersonation scams
- Unexpected money scams
- Money for nothing scams
Participants learnt how to identify a scam and what to do if you come across what might look like a scam. Stop. Think, ‘Could this be a scam?’. Ask a person you trust, if you’re not sure. Ignore it or delete it.
Unfortunately, most participants had some experience with a scammers text message, email or phone call.
“If I get a scammers message, I will delete it” – Byron
