Work trials.



Supported work experience and trials challenge and improve candidates’ occupational performance.

A “Work Trial” can be organised for people who are interested in becoming permanent Supported Employees at Ability Works Australia.

This trial period normally runs for around four weeks (or 20 working days) and is the process by which Ability Works Australia assesses a person’s occupational performance and suitability for work.

If successful, Work Trials can lead to an offer of permanent Supported Employment.

Eligibility.


Participants must:
•  Have a strong desire to work.
•  Apply themselves to the best of their abilities.
•  Be willing to be part of a team and accept direction.
•  Work safely and follow all the workplace rules.
•  Meet Centrelink’s eligibility criteria.
•  Have a disability.
•  Attend to their own personal care needs (including
   medication).
•  Travel independently.

Flexibility.


Part time Work Trials can be organised. Trials can also be extended if extra time is required to assess a participant’s suitability.

Job rotation.


Participants will find that they are provided with an opportunity to try many different jobs during the trial.

Learning the ropes during a Work Trial

  

Support and training.


Supervisors and Workplace Support and Training staff will assist participants while they are at work. This might include on-the-job training, encouragement to try a new process or task, or help with other work related matters.

Transport.



A public bus (the “609” from the Fairfield and Kew areas - click here for a timetable) runs to and from our premises and car parking is available. Taxi services can also be arranged.
